I've heard that chess is a gateway game which has been shown to encourage experimenting with other games. It can ruin lives and destroy futures. :)
Not at all. Chess is a fine game for children. They will quickly bore with it though. Kinda like tic-tac-toe. ^_^

See, all you have to do is teach them that the shapes of the pieces don't matter, only the colors do, and they put the pieces on the corners of the squares... oh yeah, and that one set doesn't have enough pieces, so they'll have to steal pieces from other sets. Then you'll be all set!
